This laptop has damn speed on doing multi tasking. Glad that I did because I have no doubt this laptop perform well on MixPad audio/video editing software for large scale videos.
Rendering and exporting are as quick. Navigation between each application is very smooth.
Anyone who has used a super-spec Mac with Apple ’s video editing suite will be familiar with the teeth-grindingly irritating timeline performance.
If you happen to scroll through the timeline beyond the immediate view while your video is playing, there will be buffer time to reload the data and render it but this laptop is working on enough muscle memory which keeps things seamless.
The problem I have is that I worry constantly about how it has been placed in my rucksack, and whether or not there is any danger of the laptop being bent or inadvertently dented over time.
I have used it to edit every video live published on the channel since the laptop arrived. The one-cable-does-it-all connection between both devices is as convenient as could expect,
The first is the battery life. Trust me the amount of juice you get from this thing is utterly insane. I regularly forget that I am working on battery power, even when editing videos.
The second surprise is speakers. You could the crispy clear audio.
The Pavilion 14 is good at casual gaming (titles such as Dota 2, Dead or Alive, Harrypotter) as there were no freezing issues. But heavy titles such as GTA V can impact the performance (mind you, it's not a gaming laptop).
If you hate people peeping into your screen, you might not be happy about this. Also, spending long durations in front of this screen wasn't an issue as the screen was glare-free. The built-in Alexa feature came in handy for fetching information, controlling paired smart devices and playing my playlist (I had to log into my Alexa account).Another utility feature I loved using was HP QuickDrop, which helped to share files between my iPhone and this laptop wirelessly.
Complementing this work and entertainment experience was the bright 14-inch full HD display and B&O sound. The full HD display was bright and I preferred using it at 80 percent brightness. The 178-degree wide viewing angle worked for me, especially while streaming videos with family.
On the sound front, the B&O sound was loud and clear. The speaker grills are placed towards the bottom corners of the laptop, which makes the sound reflect off the table. The B&O Audio Control app helped in customising equalisers when playing music. The noise cancellation feature came in handy for answering conferencing calls as it successfully reduced the background noise. All this is backed up with a 43Wh Li-ion battery that lasted a little over 6 hours on a charge. HP Pavilion 14's battery juiced up 50 per cent in the first 30 minutes and takes about another hour to reach 100 per cent.
The HP Pavilion is sleek (1.7 cm) and lightweight too (1.4 kg), which makes it super comfortable to lug around, just like a portfolio in hand. Despite the sleek form factor, HP has added ample ports including a Type C, two USB Type-A, HDMI, a microSD card reader along with the audio jack. There is also a fingerprint scanner for biometric login and verification.
Lets move on to the next review is a ACER NITRO 5 AN515-55-53E5 GAMING LAPTOP
The Acer Nitro 5 is an economy gaming laptop, that offers a strong set of components and premium features like an RTX 30-Series GPU that help it stretch beyond its budget trappings.
i think this is a laptop with good specs for this price
GPU, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB NVMe SSD and a 144Hz IPS display.
The screen lid, for example, is made of cheap plastic, and the area around the keyboard track picks fingerprints like crazy, and the screen has almost an inch of bezels around it.
thank god this laptop has USB 3.2 Type C port as well as USB 3.2 Gen 2 (with power off charging), two USB 3.2, one HDMI 2.0 and an Ethernet port.
These are the three components we’r lukewarm about. The camera, which records video at 720p 30 fps at its highest setting, is blurry.
The Acer Nitro 5 uses a 1080p, 144Hz refresh display, which is still sharp and clear, but it appears to leans towards the darker side and is essentially the exact of bezel-free. The laptop's sound is fairly hyped on the high-end and quite echoey, but you can personalize it with the equalizer in the Dolby Audio software.
i am very Surprised , the Acer Nitro 5's battery lasts longer than wou’d expect of any budget gaming laptop. Overall, gaming laptops are notorious for their bad battery life but this guy could crank 4 hours 13 minutes at 50% brightness
The overall build quality is solid and I did not observe any flex on the deck or creaking panels. I consider Lenovo is ThinkPad series to be the absolute benchmark when it comes to productivity-oriented laptops. For the IdeaPad Slim 5i 15, Lenovo has tried to bring some of that robust and practical design to this meant-for-the-masses laptop. And safe to say, Lenovo makes this rather uninspiring laptop appeal in flesh. This has got a full metal body but with a luxurious ThinkPad matte coat of paint for the deck
But is it a good choice for a student or for those who seek a laptop for casual usage? To answer this query, I picked up the absolute base variant of the new IdeaPad Slim 5i 15 (instead of the top-end variant) to replace my work PC. After two weeks of exposure for this shiny new Lenovo to a journalist hectic work life, here are my overall impressions of this laptop
That matte coat of paint is softer on the skin and it helps while working for long hours. I also found it resistant to dirt and debris build-up over the course of time. Sadly, the lid goes for a standard metallic paint and that attracts smudges unlike anything else. I found keeping the dirt and smudge off the lid a task. Maybe Lenovo could have used that same matte paint from the deck on the lid.
For regular computing tasks, the base model with the above-mentioned specifications is more than enough. On average, I work on Google Chrome with 8-9 tabs opened simultaneously, with a Word document as well as Microsoft Teams opened in the background. With this workload, the IdeaPad Slim 5i 15 did not shed sweat at all. It is always on its toes while dealing with resource-intensive websites as well as dealing with a little bit of Adobe Photoshop editing. The Core i5-1135G7 seems to have an overhead of performance on this laptop.
Regardless of the price, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5i 15 is a well-built laptop for work and basic entertainment purposes. The 11th Gen Core i5 processor is more than enough to handle regular computing tasks without bothering. The display is good enough and so is the battery life. The sleek design with the matte paint job for the deck could appeal to style-conscious buyers.
On the whole, I find the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5i 15 handsome, especially with its unique paint job for the deck and solid build quality.
In my analysis, the Ideapad Slim 3 is a laptop that does not come with the best build quality but manages to have enough durability and more than enough portability, all in a single machine. Further, working professionals and students can easily lug this laptop around without it standing out or bogging them down. The build quality of the Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3 itself is plastic that covers the entirety. The bottom of the laptop follows the same standard design, albeit with a darker and matte shade of grey.
The display of the laptop itself has some prominent bezels, which you might notice from time to time. I wish the bezels would have been smaller to make the Ideapad Slim more fitting to its name. The bottom of the hinge connects well enough to the laptop and also sports two outlet vents beneath.
Another problem I had with the laptop was the peak brightness of 250 nits. As someone who likes his display bright, I am used to at least 300 nits of power in the panel that can get me through the day. The Ideapad Slim 3 display, on the other hand, boasts a brightness that feels low for my liking. I found myself unconsciously hitting the brightness-up button often, even though it was at the maximum setting. This sadly put another dent in my experience.
The Ideapad Slim 3 packs an AMD Ryzen 5500U chip along with Radeon Graphics. You also have a 4+4GB DDR4 RAM combination clocked in at 3200Mhz. However, do note that one module is soldered, so minus points for upgradeability here. To add insult to injury, the laptop only shows the total RAM as 5.8 GB instead of at least close to 7 GB, which is a drawback (More on this below). For storage, you get a 512 GB PCIe 3.0 SSD.
Finally, in portability, the Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3 is actually lightwight at 1.6Kgs. I found myself easily picking up the laptop and going from one place to another to work. The lightweight also helps when the machine is in your lap, and as you feel it is less of a brick. Fortunately, the 65W round tip charge matches the same aesthetic and is easy to carry around. However, like all things in life, your mileage may vary with this machine. But to get down to brass tacks, if you are a user purely looking for an affordable machine that will get you through the day without seizing up, get this laptop.

This review on the 2020 MacBook Air is written from my perspective as an analyst and a writer. I do lots of research, and I commonly have two dozen or more open browser tabs, plus Mail, Messages, Preview, and a dozen more apps open. I also edit videos and make video calls, but I keep 25TB of storage attached to a desktop iMac for bigger projects. After spending a year and some with the M1 MacBook Air, here's what I wish I had known before buying one.
Apple recently launched the 2022 refresh of its lightest MacBook, but the 2020 version, with its M1 chipset, is still going strong for me. I bought a gold 8GB/256/7 core GPU.
But the MacBook Air does all that and more, in a lighter and less costly package. Better performance. Two times the memory and four times the storage. Dead quiet. Great battery life. Larger trackpad and display. Flexible multitasking and window layout. Excellent I/O options with Thunderbolt 3 and USB 4.
But depending on how you prefer to work, there are some real deficits. No Apple Pencil. No touch screen. No Face ID. No 4k camera. No snapping off the tablet from the keyboard.
None of these are deal killers for me, but they might be for you. I do miss Face ID, but thanks to the Air's Touch ID and Watch unlocking, not much.
The iOS apps that are available on macOS work pretty well. For example, the iOS video editor LumaFusion works well and costs a fraction of FCP X.
One day I wanted to see what it would take to overwhelm 8GB of RAM, so I left every app, window, and tab open all day. Safari and Firefox each with a dozen tabs open, Mail, Messages, Preview, Calendar, one or more Notes apps, Scrivener, and Final Cut Pro, and utilities, including Copyclip, iStat Menus, Magnet, Default Folder, Typinator, Thesaurus, and a VPN.
After several hours of adding load, I started seeing beach balls. All it took was killing a few unused apps to settle things down.
If iOS games are your happy place, you'll find that touch interfaces don't transfer well to a trackpad and keyboard. Keep your iPad for gaming.
This is something that pros especially should be aware of: bootable backups are possible, but if your internal SSD completely dies, that bootable backup will fail too. I'm still investigating the issue, and Apple doesn't have a clear statement of direction, but this may mean the end of third-party backup utilities.
Today we are taking a look at the Asus Zenbook Pro Duo. a 15” laptop with two screens aimed at creatives. This laptop comes in 2 different configurations. This is the lower end config but it ’s no dropping way. I7 processor 16gb of ram A full terabyte ssd hard drive And a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060
Is it a gaming laptop, it could be. The styling is inspired by gaming laptops but isn't over the top. I tend to prefer a minimalist design in my hardware like what Microsoft is doing with their Surface line. This laptop is not that, there are a lot of receipes and things going on here but they feel tasteful. I could have taken this into a client meeting and still looked professional.
It is a really well performing laptop. You are not going to run into the same performance issue you might see on the more ultra portable competitors. You have a pretty heavy machine at 5.4 pounds. And the battery life is just OK. I would say I got about 3 hours on average out of it.
One thing it pulls from the gaming world is an understanding of how air works. Something Apple seems to have forgotten. First there are huge vents along the side to help pull hot air out of the laptop.
Good number of ports. 2 USB ports, a USB-C thunderbolt port. An HDMI port and a headphone jack Of course it has a headphone jack, everything has a headphone jack. Oh, bless your heart. I did miss an SD card slot for camera cards but that’s not the end of the world.
Both screens are touch screens, You can just drag anything you want down there like any time you have a second monitor attached to your computer. But they have added some bells and whistles with their Screen Plus Pro software.
If you are looking for one of the best lightweight laptops, this Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon is the right one.
Not only is it ultra portable but it is also one of the best student laptops because despite looking like a premium PC, it is actually not going to cost you that much and it'll be well-suited to productivity tasks.
Although not packed full of sophisticated features, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon has plenty going for it. It weighs less than 1kg and has been rigorously tested for durability. Powered by the 11th generation of Intel Core processors, you can expect decent performance, and the webcam features facial recognition for extra security.
As the name suggests, the chassis itself is made from high-strength carbon fibre, so considering this is a lightweight laptop, it does not feel at all flimsy. It actually feels very strong and durable,
The keyboard feels solid and smooth to type on, it has 1.0mm-travel keys which are quiet and respond well to every tap. I never really found myself mistyping on it. Similarly, the touchpad is big and accurate with firm left and right clicks.
To benchmark its performance against other portable PCs, I ran the Geek bench 5 CPU test. It scored 1,261 in single-core and 3,803 in multi-core, which is similar to laptops like the Asus Zenbook Flip S but lower than a lot of other laptops with the 11th Gen Intel Core processors.
Students in particular though will love the fact that it is so light. It means you can keep it in your bag to go between home, the library and lectures without feeling weighed down, while its durable design will give you peace of mind that it won't get damaged.
